PROJECT: NEVADA (Country Living at RHomes Grand Tierra Part 1)
Country living with hints of modern elegance characterizes these model homes for one of the newest developments of Robinsons Land in Northern Luzon. In this project, I was asked by my good friend and fellow designer Erika Uichanco to team up with her in transforming two of these units into potential dream homes for the people of Tarlac. Here you'll see the Nevada Unit, the larger of the two homes we worked on. It's a three bedroom unit with a spacious living and dining space, not to mention the kitchen with it's own breakfast bar counter.
Starting with the open-plan ground floor, Erika and I went with natural colors, different shades of green, brown and beige to create that country atmosphere. A comfy and modern sofa, interesting geometric elements and lots of natural light welcomes guests into this home. To complement the modern furnishings, we used rattan stools and other touches of wood for that cozy country feel. On the other side of the room, a wooden dining set with avocado green upholstery was used to complete that natural country theme. By using this more neutral palette in the combined living and dining area, the greens and teals were allowed to stand out, keeping things simple yet interesting.
The masters bedroom also has the same country theme. A custom headboard made of stained wood planks extend all the way up to the high ceiling while tree-patterned wallpaper creates a beautiful accent wall that gives the feeling of living in a log cabin in the woods. In one corner, an easy chair and foot rest provides a relaxing reading corner. Behind this reading space, modular wardrobe cabinets easily transforms the space into a walk-in-closet leading towards the bathroom.
Both the children's bedrooms also have their own unique personalities. The boys' bedroom makes use of vibrant reds and deep blues to create a nautical themed bedroom. Custom made beds are painted in matching shades of blue, with each bed paired with a storage chest for the two boys. To complete the look, nautical themed accessories are added in for a touch of the sea, the red oar being one of my favorites. On the other hand, the girl's bedroom uses white furniture on a backdrop of pastel yellow and teal for a more refreshing look. To match the elegant wallpaper, a custom headboard was made with upholstered panels in similar hues. Accessories were also carefully chosen to create a bedroom well suited for a teenage daughter.
